AN EVENING WITH: Virtuoso musician and performer Catriona Hetherington*, and her husband Andrew Lees, played to a full house on Saturday 1st October with tickets selling out well in advance. The audience was smitten from the beginning by their individual talent, endearing personalities and obvious passion for music. With Catriona on cello and Andrew on fiddle, their performance was a joy to listen to and their solo pieces were breath-taking, and further enhanced by the wonderful acoustics of the building.

After a short interval we were honoured to listen to some powerful and moving WORDS AND MUSIC by Angela Hughes Docherty and Paul Docherty. Two people who have become familiar faces in Bridgehouse over the last 12 months but who have a very personal and emotional story to tell. They chose to share that story with us on Saturday and will forever be held a little bit closer to our hearts. Good luck with the book “My Heart’s Content”, although it’s bound to be a success, we were all gripped from the moment Angela started to speak.

Rounding things off Paul played a short set and accompanied banjo-player Will Anderson for a few numbers. A particular favourite being Will’s love(?) song to his wife! All too soon the evening had come to an end, but not before a short open mic session featuring our very own Jackie Duncan and Graham Bennie. Perfect.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the buffet, to the raffle and who came along to the event. £390 was raised and as someone said on the night, “that’s the lights kept on for another month” and that’s what it’s all about folks. Well, that and the never ending community spirit that this very special place seems to nurture. Thank you.
